From 23 to 27 March, Headteacher M. Mazepa and Ms J. Wiśniewska took part in a five-day job-shadowing programme at St. Nicholas College, Rabat Primary School – a Catholic primary school for children aged 3 to 11 in Malta. The school has 420 pupils and employs over 100 teachers, psychologists and support staff. Pupils and teachers are present at the school every day from 8.30 am to 2.30 pm. A uniform consisting of tracksuits is compulsory. Pupils are not allowed to use mobile phones. Everyone speaks Maltese and English, as these are the two official languages. If a pupil is absent from school for more than three days, only a doctor’s note will excuse their absence. Homework is compulsory. If a pupil fails to complete it, they may be required to stay behind after lessons, and it is their duty to finish it. Homework in every subject after every lesson is viewed positively, as it teaches young people a sense of duty and responsibility for their own learning process. The school’s motto is ‘Education does not begin nor does it end at school’.
The opportunities offered by Erasmus+ accreditation are invaluable. Learning about other education systems, different approaches to working with pupils, and other teachers in their daily work — this is something that adds value to every project activity.
