In the summer term, class 2b participated in activities as part of the Green EcoAcademy project. The pupils learnt what matter is, what the states of matter are and how the distribution of particles affects the properties of substances. The second-graders explored the topic of non-Newtonian fluid - a substance that behaves slightly differently from typical liquids. Non-Newtonian fluid is so interesting that even physics teachers are sometimes fascinated by it, because sometimes it behaves like a liquid and sometimes like a solid. Why? Because it does not obey Newton's hydrodynamic law. Making such a liquid is extremely easy, and the results are fascinating! The children played with their non-Newtonian liquid and discovered how its behaviour changes depending on the force we exert on it.
